I really enjoyed it but marked it down to 4* for some silly mistakes, only to find those same mistakes still feature in this one as well !! I usually prefer historical fiction that's much more "set in the past" if that makes sense, or maybe just set further back in the past. I was alive in the 80s so maybe not distant enough for me to consider it historical!😂 but that doesn't take from the fact that this is an excellent read, intriguing and I've already recommended it to a few friends. My reads are usually action/adventure; Andy McNab, Wilbur Smith, Tony Park.....etc. However, to be honest after years of gruesome killings and maiming I had been looking for something a little less violent in a story with a sort of ‘happy forever after’ ending.
